Medicare Advantage Plans, also known as “Part C” or “MA Plans,” are an all-in-one alternative to Original Medicare. These plans are offered by private insurance companies that are approved by Medicare.
Medicare Supplement
A Medicare Supplement Insurance Plan (also called Medigap) works alongside Original Medicare. When you receive care, Medicare pays its share of approved costs (usually 80% of covered services). The remaining portion of the bill is then sent to your Medicare Supplement plan, which helps cover its share (often the other 20%).
